1/27/2016 Snow Update

Evening Update:

Parking Ban Lifted for All Areas of Front Street

Front Street has been cleared by Borough staff and is now open to parking on both sides. Reminder: please follow all normal parking regulations on Front Street.

No Parking on Swatara and Pine Streets Tomorrow, January 28th

The Steelton Public Works Department and snow removal contractors will be clearing snow on both sides of Swatara and Pine Street tomorrow. Police have notified all residents on both streets. Both streets will be No Parking for tomorrow only. Please find available parking on Front Street or other nearby streets.

All Secondary Streets and Alleys are Reported as Open

The Borough Public Works Department has opened up all secondary streets and alleys. If you have a secondary street or alley that is blocked, please call the Borough at 939-9842 so we may report it to the Public Works Staff.

Police Will Fine Residents for Shoveling Snow Into the Street

Shoveling snow into the streets not only impedes the work of staff to clear streets, it creates safety hazards especially when streets re-freeze overnight. Fine for throwing snow into the street range from $300 to $600. The Steelton Police Department will fine residents caught throwing snow into the street.

No Trash Pickup This Week – Remove All Trash From Curbs Until Next Week

If you placed trash out to the curb today, please return it to your residence. Republic Services will not be picking up trash until next Wednesday, February 3rd. Next week, Republic Services will pick up double the amount of trash. The Borough will not be enforcing the trash container ordinance next week in order to allow residents to place extra trash out for pickup.

The Plan Moving Forward

After removing snow from the major snow emergency routes, the Public Works Department will continue to work on improving secondary streets and alleys, as well as continuing to improve main streets. The Borough again thanks everyone for the patience, cooperation, and help in taking on this significant cleanup effort.

Morning Update:

FRONT STREET OPEN FOR PARKING IN LIMITED AREAS

Front Street is now open for parking on both sides in the following sections:

North Front Street – Both sides from Gibson Street to Locust Street
South Front Street – Both sides in the 600, 700 and 800 blocks.

Residents on Swatara Street and Pine Street are encouraged to park in these locations.

Both Swatara and Pine Street will be No Parking tomorrow due to snow removal.

RIVER ALLEY REMAINS NO PARKING

Please do not park in River Alley. Steelton Police will be enforcing the no parking rule in this area today.

DO NOT PLACE TRASH OUT TODAY

Republic Services has suspended service for today. They will pick up double the amount of trash next week. If you have placed trash outside, remove it from the curb until next week.

The Borough will not be enforcing the requirement to have trash in containers next week due to the fact that trash will not be collected today.
