1/28/2016 Snow Update
Evening Update:
Front, Swatara and Pine Streets Cleared and Open for Parking:
Today, the Steelton Public Works Department and contractors cleared snow on Pine Street and Swatara Street. Both Streets are now open for parking.
Residents can now park on Front Street, Pine Street, and Swatara Street.
Second Street from Pine Street to Locust Street Closed Tomorrow for Snow Removal
Please note: Second Street from Pine Street to Gibson Street will be posted as NO PARKING tomorrow, January 28th. Tomorrow, the Steelton Public Works Department and snow removal contractors will clear 2nd Street. After this, all snow emergency routes will be cleared.
Do not throw snow into the streets! You will be fined if you are caught.
Do not reserve parking spots with items
Residents are prohibited from placing items in parking spaces in order to save them. This creates hazards, especially when attempting to clear snow. DO NOT save parking spaces with household items.
REMOVE TRASH FROM YOUR CURB: POLICE WILL BE ON THE LOOKOUT THIS EVENING
If you have not done so yet, please take any trash cans or bags that you have placed on the curb and place them back at your residents. Earlier in the week, Republic Services placed robo-calls and the Borough posted reminders that there would be no trash pickup this week. Residents that have placed trash on the curb must take the trash back to the storage location at their residence. The Steelton Police Department will be looking for any trash containers still on curbs and will contact residents who do not move trash back to their residence.
Additional Clearing and Snow Removal Activity for Tomorrow:
Aside from clearing Second Street, the Steelton Public Works Department will continue to work on clearing areas of the Borough, focusing on intersections and corners. Please contact the Borough if you are unable to drive on your street or have an issue in your area do to snow.
The Borough will continue to work in zones to continue to improve street conditions.
Doug Brown, Borough Manager
Morning Update:
Swatara Street has been cleared and is now open for parking on both side of the street. Please follow all regularly posted parking regulations.
