1/29/2016 Snow Update
The Steelton Public Works Department, contractors, and staff worked hard this week to clear main roads, open alleys, and keep conditions as safe as possible for residents given the magnitude of Winter Storm Jonas. We thank Borough residents for their patience and cooperation this week. Warmer temperatures will return this weekend into next week helping reduce the amount of snow piled on the side of streets. On Monday, the Public Works Department will continue to remove snow in the Borough focusing on intersections and corners. This will be the last update for this week. Please keep in mind the following reminders:
Snow Emergency Declaration Expires Tonight at 6pm
The Snow Emergency Declaration for Steelton Borough will expire tonight at 6pm.
Snow Emergency Routes Open for Parking
Front Street, Swatara Street, Second Street from Gibson to Pine Street, and Pine Street have all been cleared curb-to-curb and are open for parking.
Trash Pickup Resumes Wednesday as Scheduled
Republic Services will pick up double the amount of trash for residents on Wednesday, February 3rd. The Borough will not be enforcing the trash container ordinance next week in order to allow residents to place extra trash out for pickup.
Please Clear Sidewalks If You Have Not Done So Already
As best as possible, please clear your sidewalks if you have not done so already. The Borough has relaxed enforcement of sidewalk clearing this week in order to facilitate snow removal. Now, if possible, we ask residents to make sure their sidewalks are passable and safe. Please DO NOT THROW SNOW IN THE STREET. Snow thrown in the street re-ices and makes conditions hazardous for drivers. It also sets residents back by placing snow back into streets that have been previously cleared.
Thank you for your continued patience.
Doug Brown, Borough Manager
