Steelton Fire House Improvements Project

Sealed bids for the following contracts for construction of the Steelton Fire House Improvements will be accepted online by the Borough of Steelton, 123 North Front Street, Steelton, Pennsylvania 17113 until 2:00 P.M. Prevailing Time, Thursday, March 3, 2016. Bids will be opened at the aforesaid address on Pennbid’s website and following the evaluation of the bids, an abstract of the amounts of the base bids and major alternates (if any) will be made available on PennBid’s website. 1/29/2016 Snow Update

The Steelton Public Works Department, contractors, and staff worked hard this week to clear main roads, open alleys, and keep conditions as safe as possible for residents given the magnitude of Winter Storm Jonas. We thank Borough residents for their patience and cooperation this week. Warmer temperatures will return this weekend into next week helping reduce the amount of snow piled on the side of streets. On Monday, the Public Works Department will continue to remove snow in the Borough focusing on intersections and corners. This will be the last update for this week. Please keep in mind the following reminders:

1/28/2016 Snow Update

Evening Update:

Front, Swatara and Pine Streets Cleared and Open for Parking:

Today, the Steelton Public Works Department and contractors cleared snow on Pine Street and Swatara Street. Both Streets are now open for parking.

Residents can now park on Front Street, Pine Street, and Swatara Street.

Attention: Lincoln St. Residents

Attention Lincoln Street Residents: Snow Removal on Friday, January 29th in Certain Sections

Be prepared to move your car off of Lincoln Street tomorrow. After finishing Second Street, Borough staff and contractors will attempt to remove as much snow as possible from Lincoln Street. Moving your car off the street will help facilitate snow removal. Please be prepared to move your car off of Lincoln Street by the afternoon.

Parking Ban Lifted for All Areas of Front Street

Front Street has been cleared by Borough staff and is now open to parking on both sides. Reminder: please follow all normal parking regulations on Front Street.

1/25/2016 Snow Update

Evening Update:

Steelton Borough staff and contractors removed snow from most of Front Street today in order to allow for the future parking of cars that is needed to fully remove snow on Second Street and other streets.

Please remember, we are still under an Emergency Declaration until 3pm Wednesday with the possibility of an extension. Front Street remains a NO PARKING area until further notice. DO NOT PARK ON FRONT STREET until further notice.

1/26/2016 Snow Update

The Public Works Department, contractors, the Police Department and Fire Department continue to coordinate snow cleanup and clearing efforts in the Borough. In the coming days, residents will need to stay tuned for additional street closures and notifications as we move through the Borough cleaning up streets and side alleys.

Snow Emergency Extended Until Friday, January 29th at 6pm.

Due to the extensive cleanup effort needed to clear streets, Mayor Acri has extended the Snow Emergency Declaration until Friday, January 29th at 6pm. Please follow the website for information on additional No Parking designations needed to clean the streets.

1/24/2016 Snow Update

Dear Borough Residents:

Tomorrow, January 25, 2016, the Steelton Borough Office will be closed. However, due to inclement weather conditions, all essential employees including Public Works and Police Department staff will report to work as regularly scheduled.

The Steelton Public Works Department, Police Department, and Fire Company have been working non-stop since Friday to clear roadways in the Borough. The snow storm experienced this weekend is a record-breaking event. Steelton Borough has expended all staff and resources to keep residents safe in this historical event.
