Details About Pennsylvania American Water Proposal Approved by Authority Board
At its August 27th meeting, the Steelton Borough Authority approved Resolution 2018-AR-01 awarding the bid for the purchase of the Steelton Water System to Pennsylvania American Water.
Highlights of their proposal include:
- $22.5 million to $26 million purchase price
- Approximately $35 million in system upgrades over the next 10 years including a new water filtration plant
- Offer of employment to all current employees in the Steelton Water Department including recognition of their union status under Federal Law
- H20 Help to Others Program – provides grants, discounts, and water saving devices to low-income customers
- Monthly billing
- 24/7 billing and customer assistance
- Mail, direct debit, online, and local in person bill payment options
