Details About Pennsylvania American Water Proposal Approved by Authority Board

At its August 27^th meeting, the Steelton Borough Authority approved Resolution 2018-AR-01 awarding the bid for the purchase of the Steelton Water System to Pennsylvania American Water.

Highlights of their proposal include:

1. $22.5 million to $26 million purchase price
2. Approximately $35 million in system upgrades over the next 10 years including a new water filtration plant
3. Offer of employment to all current employees in the Steelton Water Department including recognition of their union status under Federal Law
4. H20 Help to Others Program – provides grants, discounts, and water saving devices to low-income customers
5. Monthly billing
6. 24/7 billing and customer assistance
7. Mail, direct debit, online, and local in person bill payment options
